Hi, I'm Abigail.
Abigail D. Helmey, RD/LDN
Registered Dietitian · Functional Fitness Trainer · U.S. Army Veteran
Before I was a dietitian, I served in the U.S. Army. The Army taught me that a good plan beats good intentions every time, and that nobody gets stronger alone.
I spent years coaching people in functional fitness before becoming a Registered Dietitian. Over and over I saw the same thing: people working hard in the gym while their digestive system, hormones or immune system quietly fought them on every rep. Training alone wasn't enough. Nutrition alone wasn't either.
So I built Knucklehead Nutrition and Fitness to do both. I focus on gastrointestinal disorders (SIBO, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, IBD, GERD and more), menopause and endocrine changes, and autoimmune conditions, using a functional approach that looks for the why behind your symptoms.
Why "Knucklehead"?
It's a play on words. I love Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and the Knucklehead is one of the classics.
But it's also about who I want to reach: the folks where the rubber meets the road. The ones who put off the doctor until they can't anymore. You shouldn't need a medical dictionary to understand your own health.
With me, you can actually talk. I'll explain what's going on in plain English, answer the questions you were afraid to ask, and make sure you leave with a clear plan, not more confusion than when you walked in.
What you can expect
Plain English, not medical jargon, and no shame or fad diets
